The Lawn Mower – Yes A Garden Tool

A lawn mower battery powered, gas powered is one of the most expensive pieces of garden equipment and is a specialized tool for mowing grass. Height of wheel and width of cut varies with the model and price. Cuts range from about 19 inches to 24 inches. The model with a 21-inch cut and a 10-inch wheel is the most suitable for the average lawn. Most are equipped with rubber-tired wheels, and one model is made entirely of lightweight aluminum. All come with adjustable screws which will regulate the height at which the grass will be cut. Have the machine adjusted and sharpened each spring and, except for raising the height of cut in summer, let well enough alone. Your machine will last longer and cut better for the treatment.

A small hand sprayer and duster for pest control should be part of your basic equipment. There are small pneumatic sprayers holding about a quart of spray for low plants, as well as compressed air types with a 2 1/2 or 3 1/2-gallon capacity that will spray plants 15 feet and higher. The simple hand duster holding 1 pound, or the model holding 4 pounds of dust are also dependable. The size will depend upon whether you use a duster exclusively or as a supplement to the sprayer. The life of a sprayer or duster will depend upon the care in cleaning after each use – chemicals left in equipment shorten its life and limit its effectiveness.

Sooner or later you will need some sort of wheelbarrow. The square wooden barrow with a rubber-tired wheel and removable sides is a very useful thing around the garden. So, too, is the new garden cart.

Gardening chores can be made easy with good tools. Select tools that will do the job well, take care of them and you will have them for a number of years.
