We have yellow nutsedge. We first thought it was bermuda grass, but research seems to point to yellow nutsedge. It is also on many lawns on our block, (Northern New Jersey). We have been pulling it out by hand, but this summer due to the continual humid hot days, it seems to be really spreading. My research does not give us much hope of controlling this weed. The mower does not cut it very well. We leave the cut grass on the lawn for fertilizer.
Does anyone have any ideas for this yellow nutsedg?
Thank you

Does it really matter that much what time you water your yard (be it early morning or in the late afternoon... after the noon day sun has started to set)?

We've been telling our clients to either water early in the morning... or around 7ish in the evening

My backyard is huge. We haven't had the time or energy to mow is from time to time so it grew really long. We had landscapers come and trim it down. Now there are tiny patches where there is no grass, and the rest of the grass is yellow and ugly looking. What is the cheapest way to get my grass looking healthy and beautiful again?

When we installed our sod last August, the information that came with the sod said that mushrooms are an indication that the lawn is getting too much water. Indentations left by footprints are an indication it's not getting enough water.

During periods of a lot of rain, I do notice mushrooms growing in our lawn but they disappear once the rain lets up.

Is it possible yoiur lawn is getting too much water?

Peter,

The problem usually with mushrooms is the decaying organic matter... most likely the old roots. I suspect that is the problem. A copper based fungicide should probably work but I do not think the mushrooms should be doing any harm. Hope that helps.

I have a mushroom problem in my lawn. Mushrooms are growing more every week. They are also starting to spread through my lawn. I cut down 2 trees about 2 years ago and they seem to be localized in those 2 areas and spreading.
What can I use to get rid of these persistent mushrooms.
Thank you and look forward to your response.
