Microsorum pustulatum (Kangaroo fern)

Microsorum pustulatum, or Kangaroo Fern, is an epiphytic or, rarely, lithophyte fern that is native to Australia and New Zealand. Its shiny, firm, green fronds vary in shape and size. It can have simple fronds that tapers gradually at the base then acuminate at the apex, or it can have something that is deeply pinnate. These fronds are well-spaced along grey-green to brown, fleshy, hairy rhizomes and supported by short, hairless lower frond stems known as stipes.
Many Kangaroo ferns are found within boulder grottos on low mountain summits, in caves and rock crevices, among mossy boulders, and in shady areas such as gullies. Because of its ease in growing, Kangaroo fern is suitable for growing indoors, as a container or pot plant, as well as hanging basket plant. It grows well in protected sites in many gardens, when grown outdoors.
