Insects and Diseases When to Spray Plants
Insects and diseases are a constant menace to garden plants and so a good practice to follow is, either to spray the plants with an insecticide-fungicide mixture as soon as they become established (this is for plants outside), and repeat applications as necessary.

Most professional growers spray plants on a preventative program. However, homeowners should learn to scout there plants first and then apply.
No one needs to be in contact with insecticides or pesticides any more than necessary. For this reason I like to use a natural product called Neem oil.
With regular monitoring the plants are constantly under protection and no infection can reach damaging proportions. Label directions should be carefully followed when applying these materials.
