Hohenbergia Stellata

Hohenbergia stellata is known to many as a long-time landscape favorite. This outstanding plant is a rosette forming herb that can reach a height of up to 48 inches tall. It has green strap-shaped leaves with finely serrated margins. Extending beyond the leaves is a single inflorescence growing per rosette. At the tip of this inflorescence are clusters of star-shaped flowers. Each cluster is composed of pink floral bracts which mature into reddish orange to deep red in color as time passes by.

The name Hohenbergia came from the Wurttember king and patron of botanical literature, Hohenberg. Stellata, on the other hand, refers to the star-shaped flowers of the plant.
