Go Colorful With Bromeliads
The winter is a great “excuse” or reason to brighten up your home with color – why not a long lasting colorful Bromeliad? These “air plants” will bloom in low light needing little maintenance and provide color for up to four months.
Here’s a few watering tips to help you in your quest for longer lasting Bromeliads.
Allow the soil to dry out before watering again - The soil at the top of the pot should be dry to the touch. The soil at the bottom of the pot should be moist or damp.
Use Pure Water – Don’t use water from a water softener especially on Guzmanias the soft leaf Bromeliad type.
Pour in the Cup – The Bromeliad plant varieties you’ll find grown for indoor use or as house plants have cups which form a reservoir. When watering your Bromeliads fill the cup up and continue watering allowing the watering to spill over and wet or moisten the soil.
