Echinopsis

ECHINOPSIS (ee-ky-nop’-sis) - This cactus genus is the South American version of the North American Echinocereus. It is very desirable in cultivation and well suited for use in dish gardens. Echinopsis multiplex is the species most often seen. Its blossom is a beautiful pink; as it rises from the little round cushion on its long, slender tube, it seems nothing short of a miracle. The plant multiplies rapidly and can be propagated by separation. Echinopsis eyriesi is another very desirable species having white flowers with a delicate fragrance. For cultural directions see cactus.
