Easter Bells
EASTER BELLS - Common name for Stellaria holostea, a root-creeping perennial of the Pink Family (Caryophyllaceae), with erect downy stems to 2 ft. tall, bearing in May and June numerous small white flowers in terminal clusters. A native of the Old World, it has escaped from gardens in the U. S. It is allied to cerastium and arenaria but tends to spread too freely for general garden use. It should be reserved for planting on arid banks where grass will not grow.
