Dumbcane – The Legend
According to legend, if one places a leaf of this plant, also called dieffenbachia, on the tongue, he will be speechless for three days! The variety Sterling, a pleasingly lovely foliage plant, is easy to grow. It eventually gets too leggy for the window garden, but for a long time its large, dark green leaves with creamy white veins will look very attractive. New plants can be started easily from cuttings or air-layers.
