Gold Dust Croton
Crotons are known for their colorful, glossy foliage in addition to the many leaf variations. This plant originated from Java to Australia and the South Sea Islands. They are usually classified according to their leaves. Crotons exhibit injury to cold, thus they are restricted to the Southern and warmer part of Florida. Unknown to many, the roots are the most sensitive parts of crotons.
There are many different varieties of Croton plant and one of its varieties is the bushy Gold Dust Croton. It is an upright bushy plant with dark green leaves highlighted with bright yellow dots. A young Gold Dust Croton has leaves whose yellow spots are dependable to the light. If the light is low the dots will surely fade. This variety of Croton got its Gold dust name from the yellow to gold specks on each of its leaves.
