Tropical perennial climber with slender, twining stems, typical pea-like leaves, bright azure flowers marked with light blue or white. The usual flowering time is June, but bloom may repeat intermittently through the year. This is a brilliant ornament in Southern gardens and grows naturally in some tropical areas; but otherwise, it has been largely confined to the greenhouse.
Because it stays within a moderate three-foot height, this vine should make beautiful blue decoration climbing up the side of a sunny window, if humidity can be kept high. Because it flowers in summer, it should also be good for container gardening. Simply store the tub indoors in winter, and start the plant into new growth in early spring.

The clitoria grows fairly warm (65 degrees or more) and moist, in any good soil, but requires plentiful sun in order to flower freely. Spring-sown seed will flower the second year.
Family: Leguminosae
Common Name: Butterfly Pea, Pigeon Wings
