Callirhoe
CALLIRHOE (kal-ir’-oh-ee). Popularly known as Poppy-mallow, this is a genus of nine species of North American annual and perennial herbs. They have picturesque lobed foliage and showy flowers of pink, red or reddish-purple which bloom through most of the summer. They thrive in poor soil, and their deeply penetrating, often tuberous, roots make them suitable for dry situations. Trailing perennial forms are useful in the rock garden. Propagation is usually by seeds, but the perennial sorts may also be increased by cuttings and divisions.
