Calanthe

CALANTHE (kah-lan’-thee). A genus of tropical, mostly terrestrial orchids, which have become very poplar during the past decade. Once their cultural requirements are understood, they are easy to grow, and their beautiful long racemes of white, rose, or pink flowers well repay the grower for any special care that he gives them. Calanthe domini was the first hybrid raised in England by the late Mr. Dominy, of the famous Veitch Nursery. Another fine old hybrid is Calanthe veitchi. Calanthe vestita, a species of rare beauty, is native to India.
