Cajanus

CAJANUS (kah-j ay’-nus ) . Pigeon-pea or Cajan. A tropical shrub of the Pea Family. One species (Cajanus cajan, formerly Cajanus indicus) is cultivated in tropical countries for its nutritious seeds, good for man and beast. It grows to 10 ft. in height and its stems, leaves, and seed pods are covered with soft, velvety hairs. The purple-spotted yellow flowers are produced over a long season. It is sometimes grown from seeds as an annual.
