Cabomba

CABOMBA (kah-bom’-bah). A small genus of aquatic plants popularly called Fanwort and Water Shield, native to the Western hemisphere and belonging to the Water-lily Family. The floating leaves are rounded and entire but those below the surface are finely cut. Cabomba caroliniana, the species chiefly grown, is found in ponds and slow streams from Illinois southward and can easily be established in water garden pools. It can also be used in aquaria but, unless it can root in soil, it lasts only a few weeks. Propagation is by cuttings, division and seeds.
