Bromeliad Flowers

The Bromeliad family is consists of large, varied, and very diverse plant members. Plants belonging to this group are well-known for their foliage colors. Every plant has its unique form. The colorful and captivating flowers of some Bromeliad plants can last for months.

Since most of us are very familiar with the attractive foliage colors of Bromeliads as houseplants or from what we have seen from nurseries and greenhouses, let us try to explore another colorful part of a Bromeliad plant – its flowers. Allow us to introduce to you a couple of Bromeliad plants with amazing diversity of colorful and interesting.

If there’s one Bromeliad species that has both its flowers and foliage equally colorful, then that would be the Neoregelias. Also known as the Blushing Bromeliads, these plants have foliage of green, bronze, yellow, orange, red, purple, pink, and white colors. That’s almost having a complete pack or crayons! Now, wait until the plants begin to flower and you will see that the foliage color will again change. Some flowers of Neoregelias species have purple centers making them suitable as an accent plant. The flowers are proven to lasts for months. Nidularium ‘Litmus’ is another Bromeliad that is famous for its star-shaped flower spike. From pink, the flower spike turns deep purple as it matures. The flower petals of Nidularium ‘Litmus’ are clear blue. Matching this colorful flowers are the medium green and mottled foliage.
