Neoregelia ‘Lila’ - New Vivid Color Compact Bromeliad

Quietly, a ‘New” Bromeliad has been gaining in numbers and soon can be found on the market. One of the premier developers of house plant Oglesby Plants International released the bromeliad - Neoregelia ‘Lila’ PAT #11523 - with leaves which age into a glowing lilac color… it’s almost iridescent.

Many Neoregelia bromeliad hybrids can grow large and a little oversized at times for the living room coffee table. ‘Lila’ on the other hand features compact growth with short yet broad leaves.

Aglaonema Silverado - Flowers and Foliage

Aglaonemas are some of the best plants for use as house plants. They are both durable, look great, easy to care for and come in a variety of leaf shapes and looks.

One of the newer “Chinese evergreens” to hit the market in recent years is Aglaonema ‘Silverado’. It’s broad leaves make for an almost “dieffebachia” like look. The glossy leaves make cleaning easy and fill out the planters well.

You’ll notice in the ‘Silverado’ picture the flowers. Now don’t expect to be pollinating the plants and growing these from seeds. In fact, I’d recommend if your Aglaonema flowers to cut them off! The flowers just take energy for the plant. Very often you’ll find the new leaves flowering will be smaller in size.

Agloanmeas also are great for “showing off” planters, containers and other pottery.
