Beaufortia

BEAUFORTIA (boh-for’-shi-ah) - Australian shrubs belonging to the Myrtle Family. One species, Beaufortia purpurea, sometimes grown as a cool greenhouse plant, or outdoors in a favorable climate, is a small shrub with wand-like branches and narrow rigid leaves.

The small reddish flowers, with conspicuous purple stamens, are borne in dense heads in spring. It requires a mixture of loam and peat, with sand, and is propagated by cuttings of maturing shoots.
