Banyan
BANYAN (ban’-yan). A species of fig (Ficus benghalensis) growing in the tropics, noted for the great age and size which trees attain. Roots which descend from the branches develop into supplementary trunks and extend the tree until it covers a large area, giving it a striking characteristic form. See FICUS.
