Carnation – The Flowers of God
Carnations are one of the most popular flowers in the world. They can come in 3 common groups – the annual carnations, the border carnations, and the perpetual-flowering carnations. Some growers refer to these lovely flowers as Dianthus – dios which refers to the Greek God Zeus and Anthos which means flower.
The Carnation plant can grow up to 3 feet high. It has grayish-green foliage and fragrant semi-double rosy flowers. Various varieties of Carnation come in different colors and sizes. Carnation blooms can last long enough even after being cut. This makes Carnations popular member flowers in corsages, bouquets and other floral arrangements. It is believed that each color of Carnation carries a specific meaning; although carnations in general mean fascination or woman’s love.
