Bougainvillea Flowers
Commonly called the Paper Flowers, Bougainvillea Flowers were named after Louis A. de Bougainville, a French navigator. This plant is a native of Brazil and they usually exhibit brilliant colors that are believed to be representations of the Mediterranean countries. These colors include red, magenta, pink, orange, white, yellow, and purple such as the one that you see at the left.
Bougainvillea Flowers are known to many as those large petal-like flower that has smaller and clustered white flowers at the center. The truth is only those white and clustered small flowers at the center are the TRUE blossoms; while the thin petal-like larger flowers are actually the surrounding papery bracts. Each cluster of flowers is surrounded by 3 to 6 bracts. The bracts carry bright colors and these colors were associated with the plant.
