Bougainvillea Flowers

Commonly called the Paper Flowers, Bougainvillea Flowers were named after Louis A. de Bougainville, a French navigator.

This plant is a native of Brazil and they usually exhibit brilliant colors that are believed to be representations of the Mediterranean countries. These Bougainvillea colors include:
- Red
- Magenta
- Pink
- Orange
- White
- Yellow
- Purple
such as the one that you see above.

Bougainvillea Flowers are known to many as those large petal-like flower that has smaller and clustered white flowers at the center. The truth is only those white and clustered small flowers at the center are the TRUE blossoms; while the thin petal-like larger flowers are actually the surrounding papery bracts. Each cluster of flowers is surrounded by 3 to 6 bracts. The bracts carry bright colors and these colors were associated with the plant.
