Some varieties produce pure white blossoms; whereas others produce link pink ones. Still, others produce dark pink or slightly yellowish blossoms. In addition, there are varieties that produce flowers which change their color as they bloom, say, from white to pink only during a few days.

At the left is a photo of one Cherry blossom variety that produces white blossoms – the Prunus x yedoensis Yoshino. This is one example of a hybrid cherry known as a product from the cross between Prunus speciosa and Prunus subhirtella. The flowers were observed to be scented and emerged firstly in pale pink color eventually fading to white. Although the flowers last only for a few days, the elegant shape and size of Yoshino make it ideal for ornamental purposes.
