The Colorful World Of Coleus Plants

Coleus Plants Are you someone who loves foliage plants but is sick and tired of green leaves? Then go for Coleus plants. These plants are known for their colored leaves and delicate but beautiful flowers. Coleus Blumei varities, for instance, have bronze-colored leaves arranged in a nette-like formation. Foliage colors may range through yellow, red, crimson, and pink.

There are also Coleus plants that have green foliage. But these varieties bear gorgeous flowers. Coleus fredericii, for instance, bears deep purple flowers. Coleus amboinicus have lavender-pink flowers. Take note, however, that Coleus plants having ornamental leaves have hardly noticeable flowers.

TIP: Colors of Coleus leaves are more enhanced in the shade.

Coleus plants make great potted plants. They can be grown outdoors in the garden under bright, indirect light or they can be grown as house plants under sufficient light and food. Dwarf Coleus varieties will make great colorful border plants. The taller ones, on the other hand, make excellent background planting.
